A Joint Research Centre (JRC) update reveals that approximately €207 billion, 21% of all analysed EU funding from 2021 to 2027 is earmarked for advancing the Digital Decade targets. Around €177.5 billion will directly support objectives such as public service digitalisation, business tech uptake (AI, cloud, analytics), and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) digital transformation.
The analysis shows 27% of relevant investment focuses on public services (over €30 billion) and 37% on digitalising businesses. Funding is sourced from key EU instruments: the Recovery and Resilience Facility, Cohesion Policy, Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Programme, and Connecting Europe Facility Digital. Spain, Italy and Greece receive the highest per‑capita allocations.
