On 31 October 2024, the European Commission revealed the finalists for the 2025 Access City Award: Borås (Sweden), Cartagena (Spain), Nuremberg (Germany), and Vienna (Austria). These cities have demonstrated exemplary practices in making urban environments accessible for people with disabilities, including public spaces, transport, facilities, and information and communication technologies.

This year's award is special as it marks the 15th anniversary and has seen a record number of applications in the past decade, with 57 cities applying and 33 shortlisted by national experts. The winner will be announced on 29 November 2024, during the European Day of Persons with Disabilities conference, with the ceremony being broadcast live and accessible to all interested viewers.
