In an effort to boost sustainable travel and reduce reliance on air travel, FS Italiane Group plans to compete with Eurostar on the Paris–London route through the Channel Tunnel by 2029, with a EUR 1 billion investment.

FS Italiane Group, an Italian rail operator, is set to challenge Eurostar in providing high-speed rail services through the Channel Tunnel, with plans to boost competition on the Paris–London route by 2029. According to Travel Weekly, the company is committing EUR 1 billion to foster a more integrated European rail network. CEO Stefano Antonio Donnarumma highlighted this initiative as part of the company's strategic plan for 2025–2029, focusing on sustainable transport, enhancing competition, and reducing reliance on air travel.
