The Autonomous Region of Madeira has achieved the second level of the silver seal certification as a "Sustainable Tourist Destination". EarthCheck, a world-leading tourism destination certification entity accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, recognized Madeira’s commitment to preserving its cultural and natural heritage. The certification journey continues, with the goal of reaching the highest level of certification (Gold) within three years (by 2027). Madeira’s sustainable efforts involve a comprehensive approach across environmental, social, cultural, and economic dimensions
