The European Commission has announced the cities competing for the 2027 European Green Capital and Green Leaf Awards. The awards recognise cities making significant efforts toward environmental sustainability, with applicants undergoing a technical assessment across seven key indicators. Finalists will present their action plans to an international jury in October 2025, with winners announced at a ceremony in Vilnius. Winning cities will receive financial prizes to support green initiatives and benefit from increased visibility, investment, and civic pride.
