On 20 May 2025, the Directorate-General for Communication highlighted the launch of a new tram line in Tallinn, Estonia, funded by NextGenerationEU. This 2.5 km light rail project, supported by EUR 36.5 million in EU funding, connects the Old Port with key transport hubs like the Rail Baltica terminal, central station, and airport. It aims to reduce congestion and pollution while promoting sustainable urban mobility. The initiative is part of Estonia’s broader Recovery and Resilience Plan, which focuses on clean energy and modern infrastructure.
