Lenzing aims to reduce its GHG emissions by 2030. Specifically, by 2030 it pledges to reducing 42% of all direct emissions from the company’s activities or activities under its control, including fuel combustion on site, and of the indirect emissions from electricity and heat purchased and used by the company.
By 2030, it also pledges to reducing 25% of the indirect emissions from the organization’s activities occurring from sources that it does not own or control and covering emissions along the value chain. By 2050, Lenging Group pledges to reducing all its GHG emissions by 90% compared the 2021 levels. Since 2017, it has reduced absolute GHG emissions by 25% through energy optimisation, renewable energy integration, and new technologies. Lenzing has increased its low-carbon specialty fibres share by investing in advanced lyocell, viscose, and modal production. Current efforts focus on renewable energy procurement, including a biomass power plant acquisition, 100% renewables-based electricity in 6 sites, and power supply agreements like wind power in Austria.
