CURRENT ACTIONS:
ETC is already involved in several initiatives celebrating companies with excellent digitalisation or sustainability transitions, such as the Rail Tourism Awards and Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards. These prizes raise awareness among SMEs of the possibility and benefits of the twin transitions and present good examples from comparable organisations which can be followed.

Though ETC does not work directly with SMEs, we take a ‘train the trainers approach,’ offering several opportunities for our members to improve their digital skills base so that they might pass knowledge down the supply chain in their destination. On-going examples of such programmes include the DataLab webinar series with UN Tourism, the AI Opener for Destinations online programme provided by Nao Group, and the BeSmart platform offered by BehaviourSMART.

We also regularly release publications and webinars which are free for anybody to access and could be used by business owners to support their digital transition.

FUTURE ACTIONS:
We are committed to continuing our support for the Rail Tourism Awards and Destination for Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards to continue promoting the benefits of the twin transitions for all stakeholders in the tourism industry.

ETC also plans to publish more research on digital and sustainable tourism, which can provide support to any entrepreneur interested in transitioning their business.

OUTPUT:
We will continue to organise the Rail Tourism Awards and Destination for Sustainable Cultural Heritage Awards.
We will produce further research on digital and sustainable tourism.

TIME:
The 4th edition of the Rail Tourism Awards and 7th Destination for Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards will take place in Autumn 2024, further editions will continue at least until 2030.

In the coming years, we endeavour to create more research projects and resources on the digital transition and will continue to offer upskilling programmes for the foreseeable future.
