CURRENT ACTIONS:
ETC is committed to working with our members and partners to increase the appeal of sustainable transport options. Since 2021, ETC has collaborated with Eurail on the Rail Tourism Awards. The awards aim to make rail journeys more appealing to tourists by highlighting excellent campaigns with impressive results in getting more people to travel by train. This scheme also acts as a forum to bring together stakeholders from the rail and tourism industries to discuss ways to incentivise travellers to use sustainable means of transport.

In 2024, ETC also entered into a partnership with Rail Europe and looks forward to future collaborations to boost the uptake of rail tourism.

FUTURE ACTIONS:
Seeing the past success of the Rail Tourism Awards, ETC is committed to continuing this initiative until at least 2030.

ETC is also committed to leading by example, and endeavours to undertake an increasing number of our own business trips by rail.

Undergoing collaborative projects with Rail Europe, our new associate member, to increase the uptake of rail tourism.

OUTPUT:
Continuing the Rail Tourism Awards.
Increasing the number of business trips that ETC staff take by train instead of flying.
Future collaborations with Rail Europe.

TIME:
The 4th edition of the Rail Tourism Awards will take place in 2024, further editions will continue at least until 2030.

Switching to rail for business trips is an ongoing process. ETC’s general meeting in November 2024 will take place in Luxembourg, and attendees will be offered train tickets to travel to the event.

In the coming years, we look forward to collaborating on various projects with our new associate member, Rail Europe.
