The European Commission’s Communication on creation of a common European mobility data space (COM/2023/751 final) is intended to establish a unified data space that allows for seamless sharing of mobility-related data across member states and stakeholders. It will involve collecting data from various sources, including public transport, private mobility services, infrastructure, and user-generated data. Its objectives also include support for effective transport and mobility policy making, and boosting innovation within the transport sector. The Communication highlights the expected benefits which involve improved mobility services, sustainable transport solutions and contribution to the EU’s climate goals, and economic growth. 

The creation of a Common European Mobility Data Space represents a significant step towards modernizing Europe’s transport and mobility infrastructure.
