Published by the European Travel Commission (ETC) in March 2023, the Code of Conduct on Data Sharing in Tourism, co-signed by 20 travel and tourism organizations across Europe, clarifies essential aspects of data sharing agreements. This non-binding agreement aims to promote fair and transparent data sharing, establish a level playing field, and build trust within the EU tourism industry. It supports the development of an EU-wide data interchange infrastructure by addressing data access, reuse, and privacy issues. The Code outlines key principles and guidelines for data sharing agreements, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and respecting commercial interests.

The Code of Conduct on Data Sharing in Tourism represents a significant step towards a more integrated and data-driven tourism sector in Europe. By promoting trust, transparency, and collaboration, it aims to enhance the overall sustainability and competitiveness of the industry.
