The Council of the European Union released the fourth review of the Black Sea Synergy initiative in July 2024 which provides an in-depth analysis of the EU’s engagement in the Black Sea region from 2019 to 2023. It covers topics such as sustainable blue economy, fisheries and aquaculture, environmental protection, cross-border cooperation, civil society engagement, education and innovation, and energy and transport. The report emphasizes the need for ongoing collaboration and alignment with broader EU policies to address regional and global challenges, noting that the EU's strategic interests in the Black Sea region remain focused on resilience and stability.
