The Irish Government launched the Shared Island Dialogue series to foster cooperation and mutual understanding across Ireland, as part of efforts to build a shared future under the Good Friday Agreement. Since its inception, the initiative has engaged over 3,500 citizens and civic leaders, emphasizing inclusive participation by bringing together diverse voices from all communities, with a focus on underrepresented groups such as women, youth, and ethnic minorities.
The dialogues address key themes including national identity, education, media representation, gender-based violence, arts and culture, rural development, sports, tourism, health, economic recovery, equality, civil society, and environmental issues. These discussions are helping shape government policies aimed at strengthening cooperation and building consensus for a shared future.
