The Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project, co-financed by the Interreg Danube Region Programme and the European Union, is designed to encourage a shift towards multimodal, climate-friendly mobility by enhancing the integration of cycling, walking, and public transport throughout the Danube region.

Led by the Austrian Energy Agency (Österreichische Energieagentur), the project focuses on developing the Danube A2PT Action Plan, an A2PT online toolbox, and fostering active stakeholder engagement through collaborative activities. Running from January 2024 to June 2026, with a total budget of EUR 2.86 million, A2PT aims to:

  • Establish a strategic framework to systematically improve the connectivity of active and public transport (APT) at key transport nodes, transforming them into modern mobility hubs
  • Provide guidance for implementing innovative solutions to address common challenges in the multimodal APT system
  • Inspire professionals across participating organisations to move beyond a traditionally narrow, car-centric perspective, leading to enhanced A2PT services and infrastructure that extend beyond the pilot areas.
