SMARTA-NET is a strategic initiative launched by the European Commission under DG MOVE, aimed at enhancing sustainable mobility across rural regions, including islands and isolated areas. The program focuses on creating resilient transport connections between rural and urban settings while promoting ecotourism. Through the establishment of the European Rural Mobility Network (ERMN), SMARTA-NET encourages collaboration among rural municipalities to share knowledge and develop best practices. It also provides resources such as expert guides and training to help stakeholders design effective sustainable mobility plans. Upcoming events, including a Final Conference, will serve as a platform for discussing innovative solutions for rural mobility challenges.
