The TOURITAGE project, funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme, aims to harness cultural heritage as a catalyst for sustainable tourism and socio-economic development. Coordinated by the University of Palermo, it focuses on enhancing academic capacity in heritage management through Intensive Study Programmes across six universities in Italy, Spain, Egypt, and Tunisia, addressing themes such as urban planning, creative reuse, circular economy, and environmental efficiency. Running from February 2023 to January 2026, its expected outcomes include guiding manuals, case study factsheets, a micro-lab for heritage mapping, and an international exhibition, all contributing to improved skills, employability, and cross-sector collaboration in cultural heritage and tourism.
