The Wetlands4Climate project, supported by the LIFE Programme of the European Union, started in September 2020 and is scheduled to end in August 2025. It aims to demonstrate the critical role of well-conserved wetlands in combating climate change by acting as carbon sinks. The project focuses on the conservation and restoration of Mediterranean wetlands, establishing guidelines for their management to enhance their carbon sequestration capacity. The main actions include pilot wetlands, conservation and restoration, research and analysis, and awareness and collaboration among stakeholders.
