The NiCE project ("From Niche to Centre"), funded through Interreg Central Europe and running from 2023 to 2026, developed and tested approaches to revitalise fading city centres by making local trade and consumption more circular, including a practical guide on linking sustainable e-commerce with city-centre retail.

Co-financed at 80% by the European Regional Development Fund with a total budget of €2.22 million, the nine-partner, eight-country project tested four types of pilot action across eight cities: reactivating vacant city-centre spaces for circular activities, operating multifunctional resource centres, linking sustainable online commerce with city centres through concepts such as micro-hubs and "retail as a service", and engaging citizens directly in circular lifestyles.
Among its outputs, the project's "Solution Box" includes a dedicated guide for SMEs and municipalities on connecting e-commerce with city-centre retail, alongside a model action plan that other cities can adapt to their own context, materials directly relevant to smaller retailers navigating the shift toward omnichannel commerce without the resources of larger chains.
