Three initiatives in France's Pays de la Loire region won recognition at the 2026 Trophées du Commerce, organised by the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry: a farm-to-shop grocery and restaurant model reducing food waste, a traders' association combining a shared e-commerce platform with 24/7 collection lockers, and a resident-backed village grocery restoring local retail.

L'Esprit d'ICI, a producer-run shop and restaurant in Terval, won the "sustainable commerce" category for a model connecting local farm production directly to retail and food service, reducing waste along the way. Anim'en Flèch, a merchants' association in La Flèche active since 1984, was recognised for combining a local loyalty scheme with a shared online sales platform and a bank of refrigerated and ambient collection lockers available around the clock, alongside recurring community events such as an open-air cinema paired with a late-night shopping evening. A third initiative, a resident-backed village grocery in Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne, restored retail access and a community meeting point in a small settlement that had lost its local shop.

Taken together, the winners illustrate a range of scales and models, from producer-retailer integration to shared digital infrastructure for independent traders to community-financed rural retail, offering other regions concrete, tested templates for sustaining commerce in smaller towns and villages.
