Established under Regulation (EU) 2021/690, the Single Market Programme brings together a broad range of former EU initiatives into a single, streamlined framework to support a well-functioning internal market. Running from 2021 to 2027 with a total budget of EUR 4.21 billion, the programme focuses on improving governance and the effectiveness of the single market. The programme addresses key challenges faced by EU businesses and consumers by enhancing market surveillance, strengthening competition policy, and fostering the competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs. It also includes support for high-quality European and international standards and auditing frameworks, effective public procurement practices, and robust consumer protection mechanisms.

The programme prioritises the development, production, and dissemination of high-quality European statistics, contributes to financial and non-financial reporting standards, and aims to boost regulatory enforcement and reduce unjustified barriers within the internal market.

By integrating actions previously funded under programmes such as COSME and the European Statistical Programme, the Single Market Programme ensures better coherence, simplified access, and reduced administrative burden for stakeholders.

With an emphasis on the digital and green transitions, the programme is a key driver in enhancing EU-wide cooperation, transparency, sustainability, and the overall resilience of the single market.
