Under the right-to-repair rules, consumers can request that manufacturers repair products that are technically repairable under EU law, within a reasonable time and at a reasonable price. The Commission estimates the measures could generate €4.8 billion in growth and investment across the EU. A European online repair platform, helping consumers find repairers and refurbished goods locally, is expected to become operational in 2027. For retailers and repair-service providers, this creates both a compliance obligation (for manufacturers/importers covered by the rules) and a market opportunity, as the new repair platform and a forthcoming voluntary European repair-service standard are likely to increase visibility for businesses that invest in repairability now.
