The “PLANINSTVO 4.0” project, spearheaded by the Alpine Association of Slovenia in partnership with CIPRA Slovenia and the Tržič Mountaineering Society, sought to modernize and sustainably manage Slovenia's mountaineering infrastructure. Running from January 2022 to January 2023, the initiative employed digital tools, such as an enhanced maPZS app, to monitor and manage mountain trail usage. The project aimed to protect sensitive alpine ecosystems while ensuring safe and sustainable hiking experiences.
