Sweco was commissioned by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth to produce a report titled "Statistical Description of the Tourism Industry - Employed in the Sector" in 2023, which examines the workforce in the tourism sector compared to other service industries. Using registry data, the report analyzes demographics, income levels, and educational backgrounds of employees, highlighting trends such as a higher proportion of women, younger workers, and those with foreign backgrounds in tourism. It aims to provide insights and recommendations for improving workforce supply and understanding industry characteristics, supporting sustainable development in the tourism sector (The original piece available only in Swedish).
