The European Environment Information and Observation Network (Eionet) is the partnership network of the European Environment Agency (EEA) and its member and cooperating countries. Established in 1994, the network brings together national environmental institutions, experts and thematic centres to provide high-quality environmental data, information and assessments that support evidence-based policymaking across Europe.

Eionet facilitates collaboration between national authorities, research organisations and European institutions through a coordinated network of National Focal Points, European Topic Centres and expert groups. The network supports the collection, sharing and analysis of environmental data across a wide range of topics, including climate change, circular economy, biodiversity, mobility, land use and sustainability transitions. Through common standards, shared tools and knowledge exchange, Eionet contributes to a more consistent and harmonised approach to environmental monitoring and reporting across Europe.

By connecting environmental experts, data providers and and institutions across Europe, Eionet provides a valuable evidence base for reliable environmental decision-making and supports the implementation of EU environmental and sustainability policies. The network’s work on circular economy, resource efficiency, waste management and environmental monitoring also provides valuable evidence to support the textile ecosystem’s transition towards more sustainable and circular production systems.
