The event ‘Digital Product Passports: The Golden Thread Through Textile Recycling?’ hosted by Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) brought together policymakers, industry representatives and sustainability experts to explore how Digital Product Passports (DPPs) can support circularity and traceability in the textile sector.
Discussions focused on the role of DPPs in improving transparency across textile value chains, enabling better access to product-level information, and supporting recycling, reuse and compliance with upcoming EU sustainability requirements. Speakers highlighted how tools such as data standards, interoperability and technologies like Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) can help connect products with information throughout their lifecycle, from production to end of life.
The event also examined the regulatory context for DPPs, including their relevance to forthcoming EU legislation on sustainable products, and the need for cross industry collaboration to ensure practical and scalable implementation across the textile ecosystem.
The event took place alongside the fifth consortium meeting of the PESCO-UP project, where project partners met to review progress and discuss next steps.
