The European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation launched a public survey to gather views on the revised ‘Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Framework’ for chemicals and materials. The updated framework aims to guide innovation towards safer and more sustainable solutions, benefiting both users and industry competitiveness.
The survey is open until 15 September 2025. It welcomes input from academics, industry professionals, NGOs and individual experts. Contributions on topics like socio-economic sustainability assessments and applicability to early-stage innovations will help shape the SSbD framework set to form the basis of a new Commission recommendation later this year.
