From 22 to 24 September 2025, the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee will host Circular Economy Days at the Osaka World Expo in Japan. The event aims to highlight the circular economy’s role in addressing global climate challenges and promoting inclusive growth, bringing together policymakers, businesses and innovators.
Commissioner Jessika Roswall, who oversees Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, will take part in three high-level sessions on 22 September. Key highlights include a Textiles and Fashion session (focused on extending product lifecycles, reducing textile waste, replacing fossil-based materials with bio-based ones), a Sustainable Cities session (on urban resilience, water management and green infrastructure), and Circular Diplomacy (EU-Japan cooperation).
Additional discussions will explore how circular economy practices can reduce biodiversity loss, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and respond to expected growth in material demand. Stakeholders will share best practices for public and private collaboration and explore how such circular solutions can be scaled globally.
