Facilitated through the TCLF SkillBridge project, the initiative builds on strong regional cooperation and is led by UNITEX and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, bringing together public authorities, industry representatives, education and training providers to address key challenges facing the sector.

As the leading textile region in France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is home to over 800 companies and 18,000 workers, specialising in technical, innovative and luxury textiles. The sector is a strategic pillar of the regional economy, but is facing growing challenges, such as:

  • Shortages in qualified workers

  • An ageing workforce

  • The need to embrace sustainability and digitalisation

  • Limited attractiveness of the sector for younger generations

To respond, the Regional Skills Partnership will work on a shared skills strategy, focusing on:

  • Anticipating future skills needs, especially in technical and digital fields

  • Promoting lifelong learning and facilitating upskilling/reskilling

  • Improving the image of the sector and attracting young talent

  • Aligning training provision with industry demand

  • Fostering regional innovation through collaborative governance
