The first Repair Café in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been established, bringing together local citizens, students and repair practitioners for hands on workshops that blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies. The initiative developed by the Makerspace Garage Association represents a local effort to promote repair culture, reduce waste and support broader circular economy practices in the region.

The launch event attracted more than 45 participants, including primary, secondary and university students, who took part in five specialised repair modules. Under the guidance of local experts, attendees worked on activities such as restoring wooden items, servicing and tuning bicycles, diagnosing and repairing small household appliances, textile repair and upcycling, and using 3D scanning and printing to recreate broken plastic parts that would otherwise be discarded.

With support from the Federal Ministry of Education and Science and the Repair Café International Foundation, the initiative aims to expand the repair culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina and act as a community hub where skills are shared and opportunities to extend product lifetimes are promoted. The Repair Café Mostar will continue to operate as a permanent community resource, offering free and regular sessions to the public and serving as an example of circular practices for other communities in the region.
