On 5 June 2026, in occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have launched a global call for climate action.
World Environment Day focuses on climate change, and the signals the Earth is sending on the increasing challenges it is facing. UNEP has launched a global campaign, #NowForClimate, to involve stakeholders worldwide in combating climate change worldwide. The Republic of Azerbaijan is hosting the global commemoration of World Environment Day in Baku, and was previously the host of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29).
This marks an important day for the fashion industry, as environmental degradation impacts global supply chains unevenly, exposing communities to varying environmental risks. Due to its global scale, the industry operates on a series of complex value chains, which involve resource-intensive production processes and a large environmental footprint.
Stakeholders are invited to share their events for World Environment Day on the UNEP’s official website, and to get involved in the day’s events and activities.
