CTCP will coordinate and support the entire Portuguese footwear value chain in adopting biobased materials, eco-design, recycling, and circular economy practices through projects, research, and technical assistance. Building on pioneering initiatives like Life GreenShoes4All and BioShoes4All, CTCP will promote the development, testing, and industrial-scale adoption of sustainable biobased materials and eco-friendly footwear solutions, while supporting the recycling and reuse of materials and post-production waste to reduce the sector's environmental footprint.
CTCP aims to increase the adoption of sustainable, biobased, and recycled materials across participating footwear manufacturers so that at least 30% of materials used are sustainable, biobased, or recycled, and establish standardized post-production and post-consumption waste recycling streams by 2040.
