The textile, clothing, leather and footwear (TCLF) ecosystem is undergoing significant transformation, driven by digitalisation, sustainability requirements and evolving labour market needs. In this context, access to reliable and structured skills data is becoming increasingly important for both industry and policy development.

To support this, the Skills4Circularity project is currently developing a TCLF Skills Observatory, a platform that aims to bring together relevant data on skills, labour and employment across the sector. The objective is to create a shared resource that can inform decision-making, support workforce development, and strengthen the overall resilience of the ecosystem.

A collective effort across the TCLF community

The development of the observatory is not a standalone exercise. It builds on ongoing collaboration within the ECOSYSTEX Skills & Education Working Group, where a first exchange has already taken place to gather initial feedback from projects and stakeholders.

The next step is to open this process more broadly to the TCLF Skills Alliance community, including its signatories and partners. Their perspectives are essential to ensure that the observatory reflects real needs on the ground and captures the diversity of the sector.

Importantly, this initiative is also expected to contribute to wider European efforts on skills intelligence, including the European Commission’s work on a European Skills Intelligence Observatory.

Contribute and share your perspective

Stakeholders are invited to contribute directly to the development of the TCLF Skills Observatory through an interactive Miro board. The board is structured into key sections covering different components of the platform, and participants can easily share their input, ideas and suggestions.

👉 Access the Miro board HERE

Contributions are open until 22 April.

Participants are encouraged to circulate the invitation within their organisations and networks to ensure a broad range of inputs.

This is an opportunity to help shape a tool that will support the future of skills in the TCLF sector, ensuring it reflects both industry realities and policy priorities.
