A digital guest pass integrating mobility, leisure and culture across 40 municipalities in the Allgäu region has won the 2026 ADAC Bavaria Tourism Award. The award coincides with a record year for Bavarian tourism, which recorded nearly 41 million guests and around 103 million overnight stays in 2025.

The Allgäu-Walser-Pass, presented by Allgäu-Walser-Service GmbH, won first place among seven finalists selected from 31 submitted projects, evaluated by a 16-member jury of academics, industry associations and tourism experts. The pass gives visitors and residents in towns such as Oberstdorf a single digital entry point, delivered via QR code through their accommodation, to free or discounted regional bus and train travel, guided hikes, museum tours, and access to facilities such as thermal baths and gorges, with additional passes for cable cars or experience packages available through a companion app.

Second place went to TRALSTER, an AI-powered audio guide platform that lets museums and cultural institutions offer visitors QR-code-based, multilingual audio and text content, adjustable for text size and speed, with built-in screen-reader compatibility and accessible location information, aimed particularly at smaller museums seeking affordable digital tools. Third place went to "Entdecke Dich Momente," a mindfulness-focused tourism offering in the Kochelsee-Walchensee lake district, combining reflection prompts at twelve locations with a companion booklet and an ambient soundscape composed from natural sounds. Other finalists included a farm-stay network, a climate-friendly e-bike tourism concept in the Haßberge, a nature-friendly mountain-biking trail network in the Altmühltal, and a sustainable holiday accommodation project.
