Announced on 17 March at a European Commission ceremony in Brussels, the awards recognised outstanding sustainable mobility activities carried out in 2025. South Tyrol's Guest Pass, distributed through participating accommodation providers, gives visitors unlimited access to regional public transport, encouraging them to leave private cars behind across both rural and urban areas of the region. By making public transport the default option for visitors, the initiative aims to reduce congestion and emissions while strengthening transport systems that also serve local residents, beating finalists Eskişehirspor Kulübü (Türkiye) and SiciliaFiera (Italy) for the award. Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas framed the awards around people-centred mobility that connects communities and improves daily life, calling for transport across Europe to become more sustainable and accessible.

Riga won the separate EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award for combining educational activities with public engagement events, such as temporary pedestrian zones and a vintage-bicycle "Tweed Ride," alongside longer-term measures including new cycling infrastructure and expanded 30 km/h zones, ahead of finalists Innsbruck (Austria) and Limassol (Cyprus). Braga, a previous 2022 winner, received a special jury mention for its continued investment in walking, cycling and shared transport measures that benefit both residents and visitors.
