1. What is co-financing?

Co financing is the part of the project cost that the EU does not pay. Most calls fund only a percentage of eligible costs, so you (and/or your partners) must cover the rest with your own money or other funding. The call tells you the funding rate and what costs are eligible. If you are an SME, it is important to plan co-financing from the outset, as it affects the level of financial capacity required and may influence whether additional partners or complementary funding sources are needed.

2. Can I combine EU funding with national or regional schemes?

Often yes, but you cannot pay the same cost twice. You must declare all funding sources and follow the rules of each scheme. Check that the call allows combining funds and keep clear accounting to show which costs are paid by which source.
