In 2021, Germany’s recreation resort municipalities boasted the highest number of open accommodation establishments, with a total of 6,503. Meanwhile, seaside resort municipalities led in terms of bed place capacity, offering a whopping 472,555 bed places. Interestingly, despite these numbers, the highest average occupancy rate of bed places (43.3%) was found in municipalities with mineral and mud spas.
