According to Bulgaria's National Statistical Institute, 5.77 million nights were spent in the country's accommodation establishments in July 2026, down 5.4% year-on-year, with arrivals falling 3.1% to 1.46 million. Despite the decline in volume, revenue from nights spent rose 11.4% to €346.4 million, of which €237.9 million came from non-resident guests, who stayed an average of 4.6 nights compared with 3.2 nights for Bulgarian residents. Four- and five-star establishments captured the vast majority of non-resident demand (78.5% of their nights) and the highest occupancy (67.7%), while overall bed occupancy fell to 53.3%, down 2.5 percentage points. Burgas, on the Black Sea coast, remained by far the leading district, accounting for half of all nights spent and over half of total revenue.
