According to Eurostat, the second-quarter total was 13.1 million nights higher than in 2025 and 50.0 million higher than in 2024. Eurostat's release for the first quarter reported a rise of around 10%, so the latest figure suggests that growth is continuing but at a more moderate pace.

At regional level, the most recent data (first quarter of 2026) show Canarias and Rhône-Alpes as the most popular regions for platform-booked stays, with 8.8 million nights each, followed by Andalucía with 8.3 million. Five of the ten leading regions are in Spain, three in France and two in Italy. For authorities and destination managers, these series provide a comparable EU-wide benchmark for tracking the weight of short-term rentals, both in leading sea and mountain destinations and in regions where the segment is growing from a lower base.
