According to the latest data from the Agency for Growth, in the first four months of 2024, tourists spent a total of 17.3 million guest nights in Sweden. This represents a slight decrease of less than 0.1% compared to the same period in 2023 but shows a 3.0% increase compared to the same period in 2019. Approximately 77.4% of these nights were spent by residents, which is consistent with the data from 2023 (75%). Among different types of accommodations, hotels were the most popular choice in 2023 (60.5% of overall nights spent), while holiday villages were the least popular (3.97%). Overall, the quantity of nights spent in Swedish tourist accommodations increased by 1.8% from 2019 to 2023, indicating a full recovery of the sector from the pandemic.
