This call launches under the Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM), a framework linking ten Interreg programmes to strengthen cooperation on sustainable tourism across the Mediterranean, eight of which take part in this coordinated call. It is coordinated rather than joint: each programme keeps its own budget, rules and selection process, so applicants must submit to a single participating programme.

Projects must build on at least one existing output developed under a different MMM programme, focusing on transferring and scaling up validated solutions rather than creating new ones. Eligible proposals fall under Priority 1 (Smarter Mediterranean) or Priority 2 (Greener Mediterranean), within the Sustainable Tourism mission. The indicative budget is around €8 million, expected to fund roughly 10 projects with a maximum of €800,000 each and a duration of up to 21 months. Partnerships must include at least five partners from five different countries, led by a public body.

The call opens on 1 September 2026 and closes on 30 September 2026 (13:00 Brussels time), with mandatory annexes due by 14 October 2026; selected projects are expected to start in spring 2027. Priority areas include protected natural sites, islands, rural and mountain regions, coastal zones, and destinations vulnerable to climate change or tourism pressure.
