Public tourism organisations, particularly regional and local DMOs, along with tourism businesses, need enhanced skills and knowledge to effectively build resilience and manage crisis impacts. However, many lack the necessary expertise and training, especially smaller DMOs and SMEs, which often have limited resources. Furthermore, there is a widespread lack of awareness about risks and crises among tourism stakeholders and policymakers. This gap contributes to insufficient crisis management expertise, complicating the formulation and execution of comprehensive crisis management strategies.
