The availability and quality of data are critical for tourism development, resilience building, and crisis preparedness. However, many destinations and businesses lack access to updated and reliable data. Publicly available data, such as that from official statistical offices, is often outdated and lacks the necessary frequency and granularity for effective decision-making. Regional and local tourism organisations and SMEs are particularly limited in their access to data sources and tools, hindering informed decision-making. Therefore, NTOs and Regional DMOs should lead efforts to assess data needs and expand their databases by partnering with public and private data providers.
