In December 2024, Oxford Economics released a report commissioned by Airbnb that evaluates the economic impact and benefits of short-term rentals (STRs) in key European destinations. The findings highlight STRs' positive contributions to the EU economy, job market, local communities, rural areas, and tourism development, with EUR 148.6 billion in economic benefits and 2.1 million jobs supported in 2023. Additionally, the report explores how local regulations affect STRs and tourism, revealing potential unintended outcomes for both communities and visitors.
