The COASTOUR project focuses on advancing sustainability in rural and coastal tourism through practical, easy-to-use resources. A central component is an open-access self-assessment tool that offers a streamlined set of indicators for monitoring sustainability and an intuitive way for companies to evaluate their practices.
The self-assessment tool, available at https://sustainablelabel.eu/, gathers:
core organizational details (collected in line with GDPR and established ethical standards in social science research),
information on implemented sustainability initiatives and practices, and
data related to the organization’s sustainability footprint.
These inputs enable organizations to track their progress over time and compare performance at multiple levels—by industry classification (e.g., NACE code), within their country, and across the EU among peers using the COASTOUR self-assessment tool. The tool can be used independently or with support from a COASTOUR sustainability advisor.
Access is designed to be flexible: users can return to the tool multiple times and continue where they left off by logging in with the email and password created during the first visit. For additional guidance, a user manual is available.
We appreciate support for the tourism and HORECA sector’s sustainability transition and the commitment to ongoing self-evaluation of progress.
