The Barcelona Regional Commitment to Sustainable Tourism is a transformative programme spearheaded by the Barcelona Provincial Council. Since 2017, it has engaged over 1,043 companies and public bodies across Barcelona to embrace environmental stewardship and cultural respect while maximizing social and economic benefits.

This initiative, developed in collaboration with local authorities and commerce chambers, empowers participants through capacity-building, collaborative workshops, and strategic improvement plans tailored to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. In 2022, Barcelona set a global precedent by being the first to achieve the prestigious Biosphere Platinum Certification, highlighting its dedication to pioneering sustainability in tourism.
