On 29 September 2026, the Interreg Euro-MED project NaTour4CChange presented its final results and recommendations on climate-resilient tourism at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event brought EU institutions, Mediterranean regions and tourism stakeholders together to discuss how nature-based solutions and new governance models can inform the forthcoming EU Sustainable Tourism Strategy.

The session was hosted by MEP Nikolina Brnjac and included representatives of the European Commission, regional authorities, EU tourism networks and Mediterranean cooperation frameworks. The project's lead partner, the Institute for Tourism in Croatia, presented the main findings, stressing that climate resilience should be built into tourism planning, management and financing, and that nature-based solutions can help destinations respond to climate risks. The discussion also covered the experience of Mediterranean destinations, the financing of climate adaptation and the particular position of island regions.

The agenda explicitly linked these topics to future funding and policy priorities for the period after 2027 and to the new EU Tourism Strategy, which suggests that adaptation measures are likely to feature in how future EU support for destinations is designed. For regions and destination managers, the project's central message is that climate resilience is moving from individual pilots towards a standard element of tourism policy at European level.
