In a recent appeal, the European cycling sector called on the European Commission and President Ursula von der Leyen to include (e-)bikes in the forthcoming Greening Corporate Fleets legislative proposal. This initiative forms part of the EU’s broader strategy to reduce transport-related emissions by 90% by 2050, compared to 1990 levels.

According to Travel Tomorrow, the cycling industry argues that (e-)bikes are already contributing to zero-emission mobility and economic growth, particularly in countries such as Germany and Belgium. They suggest that broadening the scope of the proposal to include (e-)bikes could further support the EU’s decarbonisation targets.
