At the beginning of 2025, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism in Cyprus proposed a measure to limit short-term rental development to two units per legal or natural person listed in the relevant register. This initiative aimed to address the issue of unregulated rental practices, often linked to foreign investment. However, the Legal Service of the Republic did not approve the initial proposal, stating that such a restriction could not be implemented. Despite this, the Ministry is continuing discussions with the Legal Service and is also working to align national regulations with the provisions of European Regulation 2024/1028.
