Dubrovnik's journey towards sustainable tourism takes center stage with its "Respect the City" program, launched in 2017. Spearheaded by the Dubrovacka Razvojna Agencija Dura, this innovative umbrella project serves as a catalyst for sustainable tourism and regional development.
The initiative employs strategic planning alongside agile, adaptive methodologies, addressing pressing development challenges. By fostering public-private partnerships and leveraging social, economic, and technological innovations, the project aims to spark measurable changes in tourism practices. It prioritizes actionable, research-driven solutions across four key categories: people, systems, sustainability, and accessibility. Engaging stakeholders from various sectors, Dubrovnik harnesses European structural and investment funds for 2021-2027, ensuring dynamic responses to evolving tourism challenges.
