On October 2, 2025, Sibiu, Romania hosted an awards ceremony recognizing the best in European sustainable cultural tourism. Over 48 applications from 14 countries were reviewed, highlighting the exceptional achievements of destinations across five categories. Supported by the European Travel Commission, European Cultural Tourism Network, Europa Nostra, and NECSTouR, the event celebrated initiatives that enhance visitor experiences and safeguard cultural heritage.

Winners included the Transylvanian Highlands for their responsible community tourism approach, Tasty Tartu for their gastronomy tourism, and the European Route of Historic Gardens for fostering transnational cultural travel. This annual recognition sheds light on how destinations can inspire others to integrate sustainability and authenticity in cultural tourism practices.
